Orange mulls acquisition of Airtel's Africa assets - report

Orange has studied various acquisitions in Africa, including assets owned by Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel. The French operator thus plans to expand its business in the region, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter. Orange was engaged in on-and-off talks with potential partners as it moves ahead with its strategy of grouping its emerging-market operations into a single unit, the same sources said. No deal has been reached yet and there are no formal negotiations underway, the people added.
