Wednesday 4 April 2018 | 09:00 CET | News
Orange executive Bruno Mettling said that the company plans to offer retail customers in Africa new mobile banking services, such as micro loans, building on its Orange Money mobile platform, reports the Financial Times. Mettling spoke of the plans at the recent Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan (Cote d'Ivoire), revealing that talks are under way with as-yet-unnamed potential partners. The company has already applied for a banking licence to operate in the eight countries within the West African Economic and Monetary Union, and hopes to begin operations in the current year.
