Orange Poland grows revenues, EBITDA 3% in Q4

Friday 14 February 2020 | 10:00 CET | News

Revenues of Orange Poland totaled PLN 2.999 billion in in the fourth quarter of 2019, up by 2.6 percent. EBITDAaL increased a faster 3.1 percent to PLN 707 million, and the EBITDAaL margin grew by 0.1 percentage points to 23.6 percent.

Revenues from convergent services jumped by 20 percent, driving the increase in total revenues, alongside IT and integration services (up by 30 percent, around a half of this increase was BlueSoft consolidation). Sales of equipment such as handsets also increased by 11 percent. EBITDAaL increased mainly due to gains on property sales, a reduction of costs and higher margins in 2019, Orange said.

Over the full year, the Polish operator achieved its first revenue growth in 13 years, with an increase of 2.9 percent to PLN 11.4 billion. Annual EBITDAaL rose 7.0 percent to PLN 3.0 billion, in line with guidance. Net profit jumped to PLN 91 million from PLN 10 million, and organic free cash flow rose 79.3 percent to PLN 737 million.

Capex was largely stable at PLN 2.14 billion in 2019. Orange said it will continue to invest, and with the 5G spectrum auction coming up, will again not pay a dividend for 2020. It will also present a new strategy in the course of 2020.

Orange announced that 520,000 customers used services on the fibre-optic network at the end of 2019, after growing by 47,000 in October-December. More than 4.2 million homes were covered by the network. The total fixed broadband retail base reached 2.61 million at year-end, up by 1.8 percent from 2018.

The mobile subscriber base increased by 3.2 percent year-on-year to 15.28 million Sims. Postpaid mobile subscribers grew by 315,000 over the year and were up by 109,000 in October-December to 10.24 million.

Orange also reported 1.37 million households using fixed-mobile convergent services at year-end, up by 11 percent year-on-year and by 133,000 in Q4.

The group forecast a continued increase in revenue and EBITDAaL in 2020, supported by its 'more for more' strategy both in convergent and single services. The outlook will be based going forward on figures excluding property sale gains, both for EBITDA and capex.
