Orange Poland looks for investor in fibre network - report

Orange Poland is looking for an investor in its fibre-optic network, reports Cyfrowa.pl. The operator has already chosen investment bank Lazard to support the process. The investor will be offered to acquire up to 50 percent in the Fiber Co, which could be worth around EUR 1 billion, according to Bloomberg's sources. 

According to the information from Cyfrowa.pl, Orange Poland plans to maintain a majority stake in Fiber Co and a decision on how much to sell hasn't been taken yet.

The goal of of the deal is to support investment in expansion of the fibre-optic network with a financial investor. The operator wants to reduce the costs of the deployment.

In 2015-2019, Orange Poland invested almost PLN 3 billion in the deployment of FTTH networks. The FTTH subscriber base amounted to 564,000 in the first quarter of this year. Orange's fibre coverage including the networks of partners reaches 4.39 million households.
