Orange Romania launches 5G in three cities

Orange Romania launched Orange 5G in the capital Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Iasi. With the 5G launch, Orange Romania said its customers became the first in the Orange group to benefit from the benefits of 5G technology. The Orange 5G network offers maximum download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps and average speeds of 600 Mbps. The operator also created the Number Share service, a first in Romania and available only to Orange customers. This service allows customers to use the same phone number on multiple devices, without requiring a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.

Unlimited data for EUR 25

To enhance its 5G experience, Orange offers the [orange.ro/tehnologii] special package which includes 5G devices and services. It includes access to what it calls the highest 5G speed in Romania, unlimited internet traffic, 9.33 GB in mobile EEA roaming, and unlimited calls and SMS nationally and in EEA roaming.

On top of that, customers get access to content through the Deezer music service and the 'Family HD Go' mobile TV package. The entire [orange.ro/tehnologii] package is available for EUR 25 per month.

Samsung exclusives

In addition, the first Samsung 5G phone launched in Romania, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, is available exclusively to Orange customers at monthly rates of EUR 47.

In the same package, customers can benefit from increased connectivity with the Number Share service, which Orange launches for the first time in Romania alongside the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 LTE watch. Thanks to this service, end-users can choose the device on which they communicate: smartphone or smartwatch.

Customers can access their contacts book, initiate and receive calls or use mobile data directly from the watch, totally independent of the smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 LTE watch is available exclusively in the Orange offer for a monthly rate of EUR 14 purchased with the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. Also, this service can be activated along with any Orange subscription for individuals at a price of EUR 2 per month.

Competition

Orange is not the first Romanian operator to launch a 5G commercial network in the country. The first 5G subscriptions in Romania were introduced by rival Vodafone Romania at the end of June. Digi Mobil also launched 5G services in the capital Bucharest in June and will extend its network to other cities.
