Orange, SFR sign deal to avoid fibre rollout duplication

France Telecom-Orange and SFR have signed an agreement to lease fibre capacity from each other outside areas of very high population density and avoid duplicating their coverage areas. The two operators have also made a commitment to complete each municipality's fibre network within five years of starting work. The deal is particularly significant because of the 11 million homes to be passed by France Telecom-Orange and SFR fibre outside very high density areas, 9.8 million homes are in locations where both operators were planning to roll out their own fibre.
