Orange to launch Samsung Galaxy SII with built-in NFC
Orange France will start selling a contactless version of the Samsung Galaxy SII smartphone compatible with Cityzi mobile payment services in October. It is the operator's fourth-generation Cityzi phone and the first Android phone with built-in NFC. Orange will bring it soon after to other countries across Europe. This version has been developed by the teams from Orange and Samsung in line with the specifications mapped out by the French mobile contactless association (AFSCM) and relevant international standards. This will make Orange the first operator in Europe to offer a SIM-based NFC Android mobile which uses the SIM card to guarantee the security of contactless mobile services. A new generation of secure SIM cards will soon be rolled out nationally, and the group is working with equipment manufacturers to ensure that more than half of the new smartphone models are compatible with the contactless services.
