Orange announced the forthcoming launch of the Sanza smart feature phone, which will be sold from April for approximately USD 20 across sixteen countries in Africa and the Middle East, bundled with a mobile plan including a voice/text/data allowance. Sanza is the first device developed by the operator following its recent partnership with KaiOS Technologies, developer of an operating system for smart feature phones.
On display at the Orange booth at MWC, the new 3G+ device comes pre-installed with several popular apps, including Orange Money, Google Assistant, Facebook, Google Maps, YouTube, and Twitter. It is powered by a Unisoc SC7731EF chipset, features Wi-Fi/bluetooth connectivity, and offers the benefit of a long-lasting battery life. Support for LTE is expected soon, said the operator.
The countries covered by its launch are Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Jordan, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Sierra Leone, and Tunisia.
