
Orange has unveiled its new Livebox home gateway at its Hello Show in Paris. The product is due to be available by this summer in France. The new Livebox features optimised speed for ADSL and fibre, extended Wi-Fi ac, a 1 TB hard disk, and a Livebox Storage function for remote access to any file saved in shared or personal secured spaces. It works in tandem with a new Ultra HD decoder with Dolby Atmos sound. The operator will offer a catalogue of content including live events, sports and more than 300 titles on demand in Ultra HD.
Orange also announced that it has enriched the Orange TV application with new functionalities, including actor facial recognition from start-up Reminiz and voice recognition using technology from start-up Nuance. Orange TV will add social networking to share excerpts of live content on social networks.
The operator also showcased new services for its Datavenue platform and Homelive IoT platform. These include telemonitoring by EPS, the Wiser multizone thermostat control from Schneider Electric, EDF’s e.quilibre service to control of energy bills, and multiple connected objects from partners such as Awox, Cabasse, Fitbit, Netatmo and Withings.
