Orange, Vodafone Spain to refrain from Champions bids-report

Monday 29 May 2017 | 15:08 CET | News
Orange Spain and Vodafone Spain have decided to refrain from bidding for the rights to air the Uefa Champions League and Uefa Europa League for the seasons 2018 to 2021, reports El Pais, citing unnamed company sources. The operators are said to have been put off by the "irrational race" for the broadcasting rights, the costs of which have skyrocketed and can longer be monetised. Uefa is looking to cash in 30 percent more in the auction due to take place next month, said the report.
