Orange wins contract to deploy public-initiative network in Ariege

Orange has secured a contract to deploy a public-initiative network (known as RIP, Reseaux d'Initiative Publique) in the French department of Ariege. As part of the agreement, the operator will bring FTTH services to around 92,000 premises in under-served areas between 2018 and 2025. The overall cost of the project is estimated at around EUR 140 million, of which EUR 120 million financed with public funds and EUR 20 million invested by Orange. Additionally, the operator will also incur EUR 73 million in concession fees over a period of 23 years.
