Over 30% of European mobile connections to be 5G by 2025 - GSMA

There will be 214 million 5G connections in Europe by 2025, equivalent to more than 30 percent of the region's total and second only to Asia Pacific at that point, according to a new study from the GSMA. The first commercial 5G networks in Europe are due to be switched on by 2020 and are expected to provide 5G network coverage to almost three-quarters of Europe's population by 2025, said the GSMA. The report has been released a week after Deutsche Telekom activated mobile antennas in Berlin that it claims are the first 5G transmitters in Europe with a live 5G connection in a real-world
