Over 300 mln people in 49 countries can access 1Gbps-plus internet

The number of people with access to the internet at speeds of 1Gbps and over has grown to 301 million across 49 countries, according to the latest data from Viavi Solutions. The volume of gigabit internet deployments has increased by 38 percent since May 2017, meaning that 4.2 percent of the global population now has gigabit internet available to them, up from around 3 percent last year. Since the beginning of 2017, gigabit internet has been introduced in Australia, Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Malta, Monaco, Oman and Russia.
