Over 7 in 10 Italians online, 92% of under 30s - study

The deep age gap in the tech habits of young and old have again been confirmed in the 12th Censis/Ucsi report on Italian mass media and communication use. While 91.9 percent of Italians under 30 regularly use the internet, those aged over 65 account for just 27.8 percent. The gap is even more profound when it comes to smartphone use, with the figure reaching 85.7 percent among young Italians and only 13.2 percent among those aged over 65. In addition, over 3 in 10 (36.6 percent) young Italians use a tablet but the figure reaches barely 6.0 percent among OAPs. The overall internet penetration
