Over 9 in 10 Spanish drivers say smartphone is main distraction - study

Over 9 in 10 Spanish drivers regard the mobile phone as the main cause of distraction at the wheel, with more 8 in 10 (85.7%) agreeing that technological advances would increase their safety on the road, according to the second annual 'Emotional Driving' survey of driving habits conducted by Telefonica and steel company Gonvarri. The majority of respondents (54.4%) admitted that a distraction at the wheel has put them at risk in the past.
