Over quarter of Portuguese use OTT VoIP services

Portugal's National Communications Authority (Anacom) has published a report on the use of over-the-top (OTT) services. According to the report, 39 percent of internet users in Portugal made voice and video calls via the internet in 2016. This is in line with the EU average and up 2 percentage points on the previous year. If one considers the total number of individuals, and not just internet users, the penetration in Portugal would drop to 28 percent. The Netflix, FoxPlay and NPlay online services, which make available movies and TV series for a monthly fee, are accessed by 9 percent of
