Vodafone Germany and Panasonic announced at IFA plans to work together to connect home appliances to the NB-IoT network for improved services. They will start the services this autumn in Frankfurt, focusing on 'smart' air conditioning systems. With a connection to the Vodafone network, the systems can be monitored for remote control, energy efficiency and maintenance needs. Once the functionality and business model is tested, the companies aim to expand the system to other types of appliance.
