Paraguay creates first internet exchange point

Paraguay has successfully launched its first internet exchange point (IXP) be managed by domain name administrator NIC Paraguay, reports local daily ABC. The IXP was created by Paraguay's state-owned telecom operator Copaco, together with the country's national computing centre CNT and local systems provider Teisa and will help increase bandwidth, lower costs and boost local content creation, said the report, citing Copaco CEO Eduardo Neri Gonzalez. The IXP was created after the Internet Society donated USD 45,000 worth of equipment following an agreement with Comcast, Google and Cisco to
