Paraguay to hold 700 MHz and 2600 MHz spectrum auction in Q1

Wednesday 30 November 2016 | 14:07 CET | News
Paraguay's much-delayed auction of blocks in the 700 MHz and 2600 MHz frequencies will finally be held in the first quarter of 2017, reports local daily La Nacion, citing the director of the country's communications regulator Teresita Palacios. The auction of spectrum for the implementation of 4G mobile services was originally planned for mid-2016 but was delayed to allow the operators Claro and Tigo to recover from their investment in 1700-2100 MHz (AWS) frequency tenders. Palacios said the government is hoping to raise more than the USD 90 million obtained in the earlier auction.
