Paraguay's Copaco starts GPON rollout in Asuncion

Tuesday 26 September 2017 | 10:32 CET | News
Paraguay's state-owned operator Copaco has launched triple-play packages via GPON technology in the country's capital Asuncion, reports the IP news agency, citing the company's commercial manager Marta Canatta. "Previously a single fibre optic line provided service to a single customer, generating installation costs of about USD 300. But this technology allows up to 64 clients to be included in a single line, lowering service costs to zero," said Canatta, adding that the technology will initially be deployed in the Villa Morra and Ciudad Nueva boroughs of the capital.
