Parliament approves EUR 1 bln Connecting Europe Facility

The European Parliament has approved EUR 1 billion in financial aid for rolling out broadband networks and expanding digital public services in the EU. First proposed in 2011 as part of economic stimulus measures in the EU, the spending is part of the bigger Connecting Europe Facility developed by the European Commission to invest in transport, energy and digital networks.
