Parliament to vote on broadcasting neutrality amendment

Dutch Parliament will on 2 July vote on signal neutrality, or net neutrality for broadcasters. Liberal Party VVD and Liberal Party PvdA both tabled an amendment to the 2008 Media Act. The text of the amendment stipulates that television services may come under ministerial regulation under certain circumstances. These will include certain facilities sent along the main signal, such as, for example, subtitling, voice subtitling for the blind and visually impaired, for the still relatively unknown HbbTV and therefore digital information sent along the RDS signal.
