Pathe Thuis to stick with PPV model ahead of Netflix launch

Dutch VoD provider Pathe Thuis will not offer subscriptions providing films for a fixed monthly fee, Pathe Home marketing manager Judith Hordijk said to Bright. Netflix, which works with flat-fee subscriptions, announced earlier its intentions to launch in the Netherlands later this year. According to Hordijk, Pathe's model of pay-per-movie (pay-per-view) offers an advantage, making it possible to view new releases sooner than with a subscription model. Films first become available for pay-per-view providers, then for pay-TV providers such as HBO or Film1 and then only for 'all-you-can-eat'
