Peruvian telecommunications services regulator Osiptel issued fines totalling PEN 59.3 million in the first half of 2020, some 104 percent higher than the PEN 29.1 million in fines it handed out in the same period a year earlier. In a statement, Osiptel said nearly half (48.9%) of the total was due to non-compliance with service quality improvements. Telefonica del Peru (Movistar) received the vast majority of the fines – around PEN 41.7 million – including a record PEN 31.8 million fine for breaches of mobile network quality commitments.
