Philips to make smart lighting with Xiaomi

Philips Lighting has agreed to form a joint venture with Xiaomi to develop connected LED lights for Xiaomi's smart home ecosystem. Philips will hold 70 percent and Xiaomi 30 percent in the venture, while Xiaomi will be in charge of sales of the products. Xiaomi already offers a range of sensors and plugs to support connected home systems which can be controlled from a smartphone. Existing lamps in its range work over Wi-Fi, while Philips uses the ZigBee protocol for its Hue range.
