Plantronics changes name to Poly after Polycom takeover

Plantronics announced it's changing its name to Poly, following its takeover of Polycom last year. Poly is meant to stand for 'many' and underline the breadth of endpoints offered by the company across unified communications and collaboration platforms.

Poly will focus on four areas: workspace products to address audible distraction in open spaces as well as huddle rooms; endpoints for collaboration and communications; mobile-first systems such as business phones and headsets; and cloud services to help IT departments manage devices.

The Poly logo in lava red color features angled letters to form a propeller reflecting Plantronics 60-year aviation lineage, while its three legs are inspired by the design of Polycom’s conference phone.

The new branding and products will be presented at the Enterprise Connect conference in Orlando, Florida. Products on display include the Polycom Studio video USB bar, Plantronics Elara 60 Series mobile phone station, Eagle Eye Cube video conference camera, Blackwire 7225 UC headset and Plantronics Status Indicator.
