Poland loses record number of SIM cards to anti-terror steps

Wednesday 3 May 2017 | 10:49 CET | News
According to a report by the Polish Statistical Office, at the end of March, there were 51.987 million SIM cards in Poland. More than 2.749 million SIM cards disappeared from the market during the first quarter. Comparing Q1 2017 with Q1 2016, the number of SIM cards decreased in total by 4.579 million. The mobile network penetration is currently at 135.3 percent. The significant decrease in the number of SIM cards may result from the anti-terrorism legislation that obliges operators to cancel unregistered SIM cards.
