Poland prepares new regulation on personal data protection

The Polish Ministry of Digitisation is preparing a draft new act on personal data protection, reported Media2.pl. In terms of the scope of the affected sector regulations (more than 130), this is one of the biggest legislative initiatives over the past few years. The new regulation assumes the creation of a new authority called the Office for Personal Data Protection, whose chairperson will be elected by the Parliament, based on the Prime Minister's proposal, for a four-year term. The draft new act is subject to consultation until 13 October.
