The Polish Ministry of Digitisation has published for consultation a draft Regulation of the Council and Parliament of the EU, amending regulations No 1316/2013 and No 283/2014 on promoting internet connectivity in local communities, which will allow the creation of a special fund to finance construction of local Wi-Fi hotspots by local administrations, hospitals, libraries, museums, etc.

The aim is to provide connectivity within the institutions and in open public places, such as parks and squares. The funds will amount to EUR 120 million, coming from the resources currently reserved for Connecting Europe Facility, CEF.
