Portugal reaches record internet traffic levels

Internet traffic in Portugal has increased almost 35 percent since a pandemic was declared by the WHO, with further growth anticipated. Speaking to Radio Renascenca, the coordinator of the National Scientific Computing Unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology, Joao Nuno Ferreira said that the country a new traffic peak of 122 Gbps, the highest in the past year. The peak coincided with the closing day of all primary and secondary schools in the country and the adoption by thousands of companies of containment measures using telework.
