Private equity firms seek Sky support for O2 bid - report

Pay-TV company Sky is being courted by at least five private equity companies seeking its support for a potential takeover bid for O2 UK, reports The Telegraph citing unnamed City sources. The talks are understood to be at an early stage and involve major private equity firms including Apax Partners, CVC Capital Partners, Apollo, KKR, Bain Capital and TPG. Sky's involvement could prove vital as it plans to launch its own mobile service later in 2016 using the O2 network. Sky would not seek a stake in O2 if it supported a buyout, but could contribute GBP 2 billion into a partnership that would
