Proximus CEO rejects possible merger with KPN

Proximus CEO Dominique Leroy said the Belgian operator is not keen on a merger with a European counterpart. In an interview with De Tijd, she said the economies of scale would not be enough to offset the social consequences of such a deal. This follows comments from KPN CEO Eelco Blok in May that a merger with Proximus could be an option for the Dutch operator. Leroy said then that she didn't see the advantages in such a merger. The executives have not spoken since then, she said. Leroy said KPN would probably benefit more from a merger than Proximus, as KPN is not part of a larger group and
