Proximus CEO to handle only current operations until departure

Thursday 12 September 2019 | 11:27 CET | News

Proximus CEO Dominique Leroy will remain CEO until 1 December, despite demands from trade unions that she step down immediately, the company's board decided. The unions held spontaneous strike actions earlier in an attempt to force the CEO into an early departure.

Leroy will however only be handling current files under her care and will not be able to start new projects, De Tijd reported, citing Proximus board chairman Stefaan De Clerck. Human resources director Jan Van Acoleyen and De Clerck will work with unions on the social plan for the restructuring and loss of 1,900 jobs announced by the company earlier this year.

Interim CEO

Sandrine Dufour, the financial director of Proximus, could be named interim CEO when Leroy leaves Proximus for KPN on 1 December, De Tijd reports. For the time being, the Proximus appointment committee will keep a wage ceiling of EUR 650,000 for the CEO position, although De Clerck would like to be able to offer more money to attract more candidates. De Clerck emphasized last weekend that Leroy will not be entitled to a long-term bonus.
