Proximus tests zero-rated apps for marketing

Belgian operator Proximus is testing a new type of zero-rating for mobile apps. The operator is conducting a beta test with a new Android app called My Apps Space that provides details on how the data bundle is used. The dashboard on the app shows the data usage of all apps on the phone. The app opens a variety of possibilities for data charging, such as businesses sponsoring free use of their own apps. Customers can choose such offers from a special section of the app on promotions. The first companies testing the service include banks BNP Paribas Fortis and ING and the supermarket chain
