Swedish postal and telecoms regulator PTS said it has begun looking into zero-rated internet services from Telia and 3 Sweden. This is partly because of new European Union rules on network neutrality. PTS said it is not expressly forbidden to provide services such as music or social media without deducting the data used from the kitty in the customer’s subscription.
The watchdog said it will send Telia and Tre a questionnaire, focusing initially on how the operators treat traffic for the services in question. It is also looking at Tre’s provision of zero-rated music services from the point of view of integrity protection.
