Qtel eyes 53% Vivendi stake in Maroc Telecom - report

Qtel has expressed an interest in Vivendi's 53 percent stake in Maroc Telecom, the Financial Times reported. The FT said Qtel group faces competition from Etisalat of the UAE and cited two people with knowledge of the situation. It said Vivendi has spoken to Lazard and Credit Agricole about advising on the process. Qtel is more than two-thirds owned by the state and various government entities, while Maroc Telecom is almost a third owned by Morocco government, which means that the situation could be influenced by regional politics, according to one informed person.
