Qualcomm holds 80% of China's LTE chip market in H1 - study

Qualcomm is the biggest supplier of China's LTE chip market, and is expected to take over 80 percent of the market in the first half of this year, according to the Digitimes Research Tracking team. The company started supplying LTE system worldwide in 2013 but because of licensing regulations and issues, China LTE services kicked off later than most other developed countries. At the same time, the number of chipmakers able to enter the China's LTE chip suppy chain was initially restricted due to restrictions around the China-developed TD-SCDMA standard and policies over multi-mode support.
