Qualcomm inks 3G, 4G patent licence deals with Haier, Tianyu
Qualcomm has entered into new 3G and 4G patent licence agreements with Haier and Tianyu Communication Equipment, which sells smartphones under the K-Touch brand. Under the terms of the agreements, Qualcomm has granted the companies royalty-bearing patent licences to manufacture and sell devices for use in China covering 3G WCDMA and CDMA (including EV-DO), and 4G LTE (including “3-mode” GSM, TD-SCDMA and LTE-TDD).

The company said the royalties payable by the two Chinese manufacturers are consistent with the rectification plan it submitted to China’s National Reform and Development Commission. In the last two months, Qualcomm has signed new 3G and 4G patent deals with four other Chinese phonemakers, namely ZTE, TCL, Xiaomi and QiKu.
