Quam to transfer clients to rivals

Telefonica Moviles and Sonera's German GMS joint venture Quam is negotiating the transfer of its 150,000 clients to its rivals, according to a report by Expansion on September 28, 2002, without citing a source. Sonera and Telefonica ceased their German UMTS operations in July, but their Group 3G consortium still owns a 3G UMTS licence. Expansion claims that they are discussing the transfer with all the wireless operators in Germany, except the troubled MobilCom. There is said to be a favour of passing theclients on to KPN's E-Plus unit, as way of compensating the operator for terminating its network sharing agreement.
