Telefonica launches Quam youth brand in Argentina

Telefonica has launched a new mobile service in Argentina under the brand name 'Quam', Cronista reports. Quam exclusively targets young customers, aged 16 to 20. Quam offers only prepay mobile voice and data services, enabling customers to stay connected at all times, via daily, weekly and monthly tariff plans and service bundles.

Telefonica’s Quam service is available nationwide. Customers can opt for service bundles that include MB for internet traffic, SMS and voice minutes, for prices ranging between ARS 30 and ARS 90. There is also a low-cost tariff plan available of ARS 3.

Customers who opt for the monthly tariff plan ‘Combo Mes’ will receive mobile internet access, 5,000 SMS, and 100 minutes for voice calls for ARS 90 (approximately USD 15) per month. The ‘Combo Semana’ service includes internet access, 3,000 SMS, and 25 voice minutes for ARS 30 (approximately USD 5) per week. The ‘Combo Mini’ daily tariff offers internet access, 1,000 SMS for ARS 3 per day. Combo Mini users will be charged ARS 1 per minute for voice calls.

Quam was the brand name used by the Telefonica Group for its mobile telephony services in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, following the acquisition of 3G licenses in the three countries in 2000, up to the service shut down in 2002.
