Virgin Mobile LatAm secures additional USD 20 mln in funding

Virgin Mobile Latin America has raised an additional USD 20 million in a funding round led by shareholders Hermes Growth Capital, former chairman and CEO of Telefonica Juan Villanova, and founder/investor ePlanet Capital. Souter Investments and Virgin Group are also financially supporting the business, Prepaid MVNO reports.

Virgin plans to use the funds to structure and launch its MVNO business in Colombia later this year. Back in December 2012, International Finance Corporation (IFC) invested another USD 14 million in Virgin Mobile Colombia.

Dubbed 'Movil Exito', the MVNO provides its services using the Tigo mobile network. Movil Exito offers prepay mobile services and handsets.
