Quarter of US TV homes rely on FTA or internet-only services

A growing number of US households are doing without cable or satellite pay-TV subscriptions, and relying on free-to-air and internet-only services. According to the research by GfK, a quarter (25%) of all US TV households now go without cable or satellite reception. Seventeen percent rely on free-to-air reception, up from 15 percent in 2015, and 6 percent say they only use internet services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu or YouTube, up from 4 percent a year ago. TV households with a resident aged 18-34 are much more likely to be opting for alternatives to cable and satellite; 22 percent
