Radation standards hinder LTE in Brussels - operators

Thursday 5 July 2012 | 14:36 CET | News
The radiation standards in Brussels are preventing the deployment of LTE services, DataNews reported, citing mobile operators Belgacom and Mobistar. The Brussels Region has the strictest regulations in the world, with a limit for the electromagnetic field of 3V/m Each operator has a limit of 1.5 V/m within a radius of 200 metres from the antenna. It is also not entirely clear which networks are covered by the standard and which are not, Base commented. Meanwhile, Belgacom is still continuing with its HSPA + upgrade for its 3G network.
