Rai, Discovery sign deal to air Winter Olympics

Italian public broadcaster Rai has signed a deal with US media company Discovery Communications for rights to air this year's PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. Under the terms of the deal, Rai will broadcast up to 100 hours of free-to-air coverage on DTT and on satellite platform Tivusat. In a statement, Discovery added that its sports broadcaster, Eurosport, retains exclusivity for select live events in curling, ice hockey, Nordic combined and skeleton, with both Rai and Eurosport showing semi-finals, finals and medal events in the latter event when an Italian athlete or team is competing
