Rakuten losses increase in Q2 on mobile expansion; e-commerce still growing

Rakuten saw its operating loss for the second quarter nearly double, to JPY 59.5 billion from JPY 32.6 billion a year ago, due to the costs of rolling out its new mobile network in Japan. The company's revenues were still up 15.8 percent year-on-year to JPY 402.2 billion thanks to a growing mobile customer base and expansion in its other internet businesses.
