RCom outsources call centre, shared services ops to Vertex

Indian operator Reliance Communications (RCom) has selected the Indian unit of call centre operator to outsource its call centre and shared services operations. The contract is worth around INR 7.5 billion. Via this move, RCom aims to cut its non-core businesses and reduce customer care support costs by at least a fifth. Around 5,500 RCom employees involved in the call centre and shared services functions have been moved to Vertex's rolls. The move has resulted in the reduction of RCom's staff of 13,500 employees by about 40 percent, two unnamed people with direct knowledge of the transaction
