Reannz to get capacity on Hawaiki submarine cable

Hawaiki Cable will provide the Research and Education Advanced Network New Zealand (REANNZ) with capacity on its new Hawaiki submarine cable linking New Zealand, Australia and the US. The 25-year contract is worth NZD 65 million, according to the New Zealand government Beehive site. Reannz said the deal will be funded by Reannz and a NZD 15 million Crown grant to support the creation of a new submarine cable. The total cost of the tenancy includes an initial contribution of NZD 15 million and annual fees over the 25-year period. The agreement is conditional on Hawaiki obtaining sufficient
