
Reliance Communications sees lower net profit in Q2

Indian operator Reliance Communications reported revenues of INR 50.4 billion for its fiscal second quarter to September, up 2 percent from INR 49.4 billion in the previous quarter. EBITDA was little changed at INR 16.05 billion, versus INR 16.02 billion in the previous three months, and the EBITDA margin fell to 31.8 percent from 32.4. Wireless revenues grew 2.1 percent to INR 44.17 billion, driven by growth in paid minutes and the non-voice/data business. Global Enterprise revenues grew 1.9 percent to INR 23.4 billion, led by higher sales in the Middle East Carrier segment and India Enterprise business. Mobile revenue per minute grew 0.5 percent quarter-over-quarter to INR 0.45, while ARPU fell to INR 101 from INR 103 in Q1. The customer base was up 2.7 percent to 147 million, from 143 million in the previous quarter, and the company had 2.1 million active 3G customers at the end of the period. Net profit fell to INR 3.22 billion or INR 1.22 per share from INR 4.91 billion or INR 2.16 per share, hurt by higher depreciation and amortisation charges.
