RIM, Appcelerator announce BlackBerry 10 incentive programme

Research In Motion (RIM) and mobile development platform provider Appcelerator have announced an incentive programme for developers of BlackBerry 10 apps using the Titanium for BlackBerry 10 platform, to be made available on 7 December in a prerelease version. The first 1,000 developers to submit their apps for review on the BlackBerrry World storefront will receive a BlackBerry Dev Alpha test device. Once their app is approved and available for sale on BlackBerry World, up to 10,000 developers will receive a year of free Appcelerator Cloud Services and Analytics. Furthermore, the apps submitted can qualify for the BlackBerry 10K Developer Commitment programme, whereby apps that earn at least UDS 1,000 over 12 months will receive from RIM the difference between its earnings and USD 10,000. Appcelerator states that Titanium will allow developers to reuse between 65-90 percent of their code when they port apps to BlackBerry 10 from other platforms.
