
RIM launches new BlackBerry Curve for India

Research In Motion announced new version of the BlackBerry Curve for India. The Curve 9220 smartphone is designed "to be easy to use and easy to own", according to RIM. It offers the longest lasting battery life yet in a BlackBerry Curve (up to 7 hours talk time), a dedicated BBM key, and apps for Facebook, Twitter and integrated social networking and messaging. The phone runs the BlackBerry 7.1 OS and also comes with Wi-Fi and a FM radio. As part of the launch in India, customers buying the new phone can download free a selection of apps worth INR 2,500 from BlackBerry App World. The offer is valid until 30 June and includes a wide range of apps that will roll out in a phased manner, including utilities, games and other apps. The BlackBerry Curve 9220 will be available from 19 April for purchase from authorised retailers and distributors across India. It is expected to be available in other markets starting in the coming weeks.
